He still couldn't exactly believe that he had requested the help of his leader and deputy to help him collect herbs. It had seemed like a fantastic idea at the time, a great opportunity to talk with the other two while also getting some much needed gathering done. Leaf-bare was not kind to plants, after all, though their greenhouse helped protect quite a few of the herbs they used. And he knew that Blueheart and Chalkstar had technically agreed to help (they would have said no if they hadn't wanted to, right?), but he winced at how obvious it was now that he had recruited the leaders of the Clan to help with an apprentice task. Oh, he should have asked Pikepaw, surely the apprentice would have been eager to help. But no, Mallowcloud instead had decided to make a fool of himself.

Ah, well. There was nothing to do about it now. Except stress, of course, but he was no stranger to that. After all, Chalkstar would have war if he could. That was a mighty large source of stress. Is that what he had expected to do with Chalkstar's attention out here? Convince him of peace? The large tom huffed a sigh at the idea. He was a fool. Not that that was news to him, though.

He had carefully made his way to the greenhouse ahead of the others, his thick coat protecting him from the chilly wind as he made his way into the more humid building. Thankfully the structure had remained relatively unharmed throughout the moons, and still retained warmth delightfully well on its own. Shouldering his way past the cracked door, he paused a moment, breathing in the familiar scent of the plants. Already he could pick out the individual scents of herbs, making a quick mental list of what was abundant and ready to pick. Ideally the task wouldn't take too long, as so not to distract the deputy and leader pair from more important tasks. He could not quite reach the point of viewing himself as part of their duo, even after all these moons.

Satisfied that what he had needed was here, he turned towards the entrance, settling into an uneasy sit as he awaited the pair to join him.

So little time,
oh, show me your love
They found this amusing, above all else, that Mallowcloud had asked both themselves and Blueheart on a trip out to the greenhouse for herbs. In times of leafbare, this was just about the only place in the territory where the medicinal herbs could be found on GlassClan territory so it was no surprise that they were summoned here. As Chalkstar ascended the staircase that led up to the large green structure, they found themselves in a rather good mood. The camp had been at peace, Pikepaw was doing his apprentice duties that Chalkstar had asked of him, and they just generally felt that things on GlassClan's side of the border were at peace. Otherwise they would have turned down the invitation for this little outing, but with how calm everything had been, Chalkstar found themselves at ease.

Unless... Was this an intervention of sorts? Had Mallowcloud and Blueheart wanted to get them here, alone, to talk about some crucial topic? The only thing Chalkstar could come up with was the inevitable war with AshClan, growing closer day by day, and that both Mallowcloud and Blueheart were not totally on board with that idea. Chalkstar's own mother believed that AshClan would be better left alone, and though the white leader loved their mother dearly, they couldn't disagree more with her. Surely this wasn't some sort of elaborate ruse to talk about more serious topics? This was strictly an herb gathering trip, right? But in that case, why hadn't Mallowcloud asked any of the others?

Suspicion drove the leader up the steps to join Mallowcloud who they knew were already here. Once Chalkstar leapt onto the surface that the greenhouse was on, they headed straight for the broken door and found Mallowcloud himself sitting, waiting. The white leader paused at the sight of him, oddly taken by surprise for a brief moment, before a smile cracked their face and their body relaxed. Chalkstar approached their medicine cat and headbutted his shoulder gently in greeting. "We need to get you an apprentice so you can drag them all the way out here next time," they meowed, amused.

Surprise had festered into curiosity within the deputy when she of all cats was asked by Mallowcloud to come help him collect supplies necessary for him to perform their duties as a medicine cat. Compounding on top of this at first glance small chore was that Chalkstar themself had accepted the offer as well. One could've been forgiven for at least a minor annoyence, but for Glassclan's second in command, it was a welcome distraction. A return to their roots even, plant jokes aside. But what stewed within Blueheart's mind while they padded along in last place was the core nature of such a little get together of the upper echelons of Glassclan.

Blueheart had treaded the same path as Mallowcloud, the molly squeezing in through the slightly ajar door with her yellow eyes being quick to settle on the site of Chalkstar using his noggin as an instrument to boop Mallowcloud on the medicine cat's shoulder. A pang of humour struck Blueheart when she heard Chalkstar speak, though instead of a chuckle a playful remark escaped the deputy to mark her arrival. "Shoot, have errand runs like this and the clan will thing we're his apprentices!" The deputy spoke in a candid, cheerful style while in the same heartbeat had quickly trotted her way merily over to the duo. Again, the question of the actual meaning behind Mallowcloud's calling the other two thirds Glassclan's power figures kept Blueheart tongue tied from saying much else for a few moments. In those moments, however, she wasn't idol and took a spot stood off to Chalkstar's right. "So, Mallowcloud, how many of which herbs did you need us to help you with?" Blueheart asked, her yellow eyes fixed on the exceptionally bulky looking medicine cat.

His nerves only spiked once while he waited, worried briefly about being turned down at the last moment or getting the meeting time wrong. The second worry was silly, he assured himself. He was the one who had made the plans, offering them with less confidence than he would have liked, so there was no reason he would have gotten such details incorrect. And being turned down? He knew the other two were not that sort, and would have at least sent a messenger to let the large medicine cat know of their absence. He assured himself, for the moment, with these thoughts, though he could not help his eyes from anxiously glancing at the sun through the glass roof every few moments, as if tracking its movements in the sky.

Before he could worry himself again, the door creaked, and mismatched eyes quickly shot to the door to settle on the twin white form of Chalkstar. Mallowcloud's face broke into a relieved smile at the sight of the leader, his shoulders visibly relaxing now that the other had arrived. Still missing Blueheart, but he could only assume that the she-cat wasn't far behind. The headbutt was unexpected, but he smiled meekly, head lowering in a less personable greeting. Chalkstar mentioned the unorthodox task Mallowcloud had asked of him, and the medicine cat flushed underneath white fur at the comment, shifting awkwardly as Blueheart arrived to add on to the teasing words.

"I don't need an apprentice if I have you two." he meowed in response, laughing softly despite his embarrassment, "Perhaps I'll make a habit of asking for help." He stood up, nodding and smiling his greeting at Blueheart, momentarily amused by the sight of the three of them. She certainly stood out among the two large white cats, though Mallowcloud bit his tongue to prevent making any comment about it. Instead, Blueheart focused right onto the business at hand, and he was grateful.

"Ah, um. Well, catmint should be a big priority, with winter here. There's several big patches near the back." he nodded his head towards the further end of the greenhouse, though the building was small enough that the distance was not great, "Feverfew and tansy, as well. They should all be close together, from what I saw." He reasoned that these were most important, with unavoidable coughs and colds that would soon be arriving with the chilly cold that had gripped the camp.

The large medicine cat then hesitated, glancing between them. "Do you, ah...do you remember what they look like?" His words were uncertain and careful. He didn't want to assume that they knew or didn't know and insult them. But what if asking them was just as insulting? They were older and had helped numerous times with medicine cat runs as younger cats, but they were not trained in medicine and had no reason to remember the names that went with the various plants that were always being gathered.

So little time,
oh, show me your love
The large white cat grinned in amusement at the words about Mallowcloud's apprentice. Chalkstar hadn't been sent to gather herbs since their apprentice days, but they had to admit it was rather refreshing to do something like this again. A monotonous task that would take their mind off of things for a while. A, albeit very small, getaway if only for a few minutes. They truly didn't mind being asked for this task, but felt it very entertaining that the deputy had been asked as well. No issues there, though; despite rank, Mallowcloud needed more mouths to carry herbs.

"Ah, um. Well ... they look like?"

"Not at all," Chalkstar meowed even as they headed joyously toward the back of the greenhouse that Mallowcloud had mentioned before. "You, Blueheart? Y'know what any of those look like? Because honestly they all just kinda look like leaves to me." They supposed the leader of a Clan should have some medicinal knowledge, and they knew some things... But for the most part Chalkstar left it up to his medicine cat to keep track of those things.

The greenhouse was the only place in the territory that was warm all year round. Chalkstar's thicker white winter coat was beginning to feel uncomfortable with the unnatural warmth held inside the old structure. They supposed it said something about twoleg ingenuity if their structures still functioned as intended even after all the time that they've been gone.

"Tons of cobweb over here," Chalkstar called out as they passed a spot where something had dug a large hole in the soil, but had long since abandoned it. The hole was now covered in cobweb... Or spider web? Chalkstar wondered suddenly if there was a difference between the two, and also suddenly wondered why they'd never questioned that before. Perhaps sicking a paw in this hole would be a bad idea. A spider bite was the last thing an of them needed.

A good memory was a useful tool for any cat to have, as being able to recall information regardless meant they could either avoid catastrophe or at least avoid making the same mistake twice. For Blueheart, the molly felt it doubly true for her case specifically with the leadership position she had been dropped into. But the situation wasn't dire, nor did she really expect for Mallowcloud to get worked up if she or Chalkstar could recall what was essentially a medicine cat's specialty. Luckily, the deputy was able to recall catmint as leafy looking plant, like a bunch of oak leaves that grew out of the ground instead of on tall branches.

Lost in her own mind trying to recall the various herbs from the depths of some deeply buried and locked away, almost forgotten memory, Blueheart had mindlessly meandered after Chalkstar, though when they'd called out cobwebs the deputy spoke up. "I'm sorry, Mallowcloud, but I don't remember much of what I learned abou-" The deputy paused mid-word as they felt solid object obstruct their path. A thud had reached the deputy's ears too, which broke the molly from her concentration for long enough to realize she'd been so invested in digging up her near forgotten medicinal knowledge that she'd strolled head first into the aged wall of the greenhouse the trio were exploring for Mallowcloud's tools of their trade. But with their head clear, a sweet smelling scent caught the molly's nose in an assault so vicious she needed to give it a little attention. With a glance about, Blueheart had a sudden "Oh!" escape her as her epiphany hit her head about as hard as the side of the greenhouse had not a moment earlier. The cause of such a realization was because of the ground-hugging plant the deputy found nestled not even a tail's length away from her. "Well here's that catmint."

Though a little bit of pride in finding the catmint waved over Blueheart, the humbling reminder of just how exactly she'd stumbled upon the herb remained at the forefront of the deputy's mind. In recollection, the molly couldn't help but laugh faintly at how absurdly clumsy she must've appeared to both Chalkstar and Mallowcloud. "Maybe if I run my head into more walls I'll remember every herb to ever come from this place." The comment was something that let Blueheart's mind drift far enough from the task at hand and to the woes the deputy faced, somewhat jealous of her knowledge of herbs being so simple as needing a knock on the head to be unlocked again. "If only the rest of Glassclan's problems could be just as easily solved." Blueheart let slip out, though at a hushed mumble. But it was the catmint's delicious scent that scolded her for a heartbeat, reminding her that she was in the greenhouse at Mallowclou'd behest to help the medicine cat with herbs. Politics could wait, at least until after all was said and done.

Mallowcloud flushed with embarrassment as both cats confirmed that they had no idea what they were looking for. He should have planned ahead better, had gathered examples of each of the herbs he needed to show the pair rather than just assuming they knew what they were looking for. After all, it wasn't as though they collected herbs all the time like he did. StarClan, they probably hadn't gathered herbs since they were apprentices. Apprentices, which is precisely who he should have asked instead of bothering the two. But it was too late for fretting about that now, and the white tom struggled to suppress his frustrations with himself as he watched the two head off towards the back of the greenhouse.

"S-sorry." he finally meowed as he carefully began to follow, eyes shifting between them, "I wasn't thinking." He glanced over at Chalkstar as the twin white form pointed out a bundle of cobwebs, and Mallowcloud felt relieved for the distraction. He envied the other, able to not dwell on worries or embarrassments for too long. "We can gather it on our way out." he meowed, peering with the other at the web-covered hole, "There was a little spider living here during the fall. I'm glad she left tons of web here for us." It was harder to find webbing in the winter, with spiders dying off from the cold. A small blessing amongst his mistakes.

He glanced over at Blueheart to look at her progress, only to be distracted by a loud thud as the she-cat walked straight into the back wall of the greenhouse. Mallow's eyes widened in worry, almost apologizing (but for what? that thought stopped him) as he hurried over to her. "Are you alright?" he asked in a rush, though Blueheart was already shifting her focus to the previous task at paw, quickly locating the catmint that she had narrowly avoided stomping over in her trek towards the wall. She was the same as Chalkstar, so quick to move on. He supposed that was a good trait of leaders, to be so quick to shift focuses. "That's it. Though, uh....please be careful. Even though I suppose bonking your head turned out to be helpful." He gave her a small smile, barely suppressing the amusement that poked through his worry.

"Tansy is right next to it." he then meowed, voice a little louder for Chalkstar to hear as well as he swept his tail gently over the plant in question, "And feverfew..." a few steps to the right, "Over here. They should all smell pretty distinct." Or maybe that was just to him? His brow furrowed a bit at this, wondering if he was again making a mistake to assume that they would follow his knowledge. He was considering opening his mouth to further explain before Blueheart's soft remark about GlassClan's problems reached his ears, and he paused, regarding her with surprise. Had she known his own hesitant intentions to possibly breach such a topic? No, that was silly. It was such a large concern of the Clan, it was no surprise that the deputy was also worrying.

"That would be convenient." he agreed softly, nervously. He hesitated for a moment, glancing between the pair, the silence dragging on for a moment before he hesitantly spoke up again, "Do you two, um...I mean, have there been any problems with AshClan lately...?" Despite his position as medicine cat, he found himself half expecting them to avoid the topic of politics.
